There are many ways we could go about this, for example reducing single occupancy car use or improving the network of cycle routes. How about providing charging points for electrical vehicles?
We would be really interested to hear your ideas as to how we can improve any aspect of our transport system to create a greener, healthier Gloucestershire. Please use the comments box below to share your thoughts.
we need much better, wider cycle lanes and better signage. The cycle lane network needs to be thought through properly and cyclists consulted as to their requirements. For example, how safe or easy is it to get from Gloucester the Cheltenham by bike? Not easy at all i can tell you, or safe. Also you need to work with major employers to restrict parking and increase cycling facilities like showers and locker rooms
ReplyDeleteMore zebra crossings, and pedestrian crossings that turn red quicker. By the time some, especially the one on Honeybourne Way, change, I have walked way down the road, or have a very agitated little nephew wondering why we are waiting all this time. Pedestrians should have more priority over wasteful car owners driving to the corner shop.
ReplyDeleteLess traffic lights. Stupid amount if I want to get to the other side of town. No need for it surely?
ReplyDeleteWe need to get people like me out of their cars and onto their bikes or onto the trains / buses if we are to reduce congestion. I travel from cheltenham to gloucester every day by car, but since i have a car already, it would be difficult to persuade me to use public transport. My other option is cycling. I'm a keen recreational cyclist but there's no way i'd feel safe cycling from cheltenham to gloucester. The post from anonymous, 20th August hit the nail on the head. We need cycle routes that actually help people to get to work or to the shops if we are to reduce congestion. We need a cycle route alongside the A40, and much better routes through cheltenham / gloucester city centres.
