Transport plan

Transport plan

A safer, securer transport system

This section of the plan looks at how we can contribute to better safety, security and health in our local area by reducing the risk of death, injury or illness connected to transport, and by promoting travel modes which contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

For example, would you like to see more 20mph zones along routes with high pedestrian and cyclist usage? Do you think the use of mobile and fixed speed cameras helps to make our roads safer?

What are your suggestions for improving road safety in and around Cheltenham?

  1. Cycle routes away from busy traffic are a must for people to feel safe enough to use their bikes. I witnessed a RTA where a cyclist was involved only last week on Gloucester Road and it certainly doesn't encourage people to leave their cars at home! We need safe, efficient cycle routes that avoid junctions and help people get from A to B. See http://www.cyclecheltenham.org.uk/wish_list.html for ideas.
